Check-in and Boarding
Getting Ready for Departure
Check-in and boarding
Check-in closes 15 minutes before departure. For sailings departing at 16:30 from both Copenhagen and Oslo, you must therefore be checked in no later than 16:15.
You can check in quickly and easily on your mobile phone before arriving at the terminal.
How to check in on your mobile:
- 1. At 18:30 on the day before departure, you will receive a link by SMS – simply follow the link.
- 2. Check that the details for all travellers are correct and select “Confirm”.
- 3. Select “View boarding pass” to receive one QR code per traveller.
- 4. Proceed to the boarding gate and present the QR codes together with valid photo ID for all travellers.
Please remember to check in for your return journey
If you have booked a MiniCruise or a return journey, you must check in again for the return sailing and present a new QR code at boarding.
Are you arriving separately?
You’re welcome to board separately. Simply share the QR codes with your fellow travellers via your digital wallet or as a screenshot.
Please check your booking confirmation for the relevant check-in and boarding times. We also recommend allowing extra time for traffic and higher passenger numbers during peak season.
Boarding opens once your cabin is ready (please see below) and closes at 16:15.
- Premium cabins: boarding from 13:30
- Standard cabins: boarding from 15:15
Are you returning from a MiniCruise?
If you’re travelling on a MiniCruise, you may re-board approximately one hour after arrival in Oslo, which is at 11:00 for the return sailing.
Are you going by car?
If you’re travelling with a vehicle, boarding is available from 15:15 until 15 minutes before departure, regardless of cabin category.
Passport and ID
When you arrive at the terminal, you must be able to present valid travel documents. These may include your passport, travel confirmation, documents for your vehicle and pets, as well as any other documents required by the regulations of the destination country.
Please note that all ID must be presented in physical form. Digital ID and mobile driving licences are not accepted.
If you are a Nordic citizen
If you’re a citizen of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland or Iceland and over the age of 16, you must bring valid physical ID in the form of either:
- a physical passport, or
- a physical Nordic driving licence
If you’re travelling with a child under the age of 16, the child doesn’t need their own ID, as long as you bring valid physical ID. However, the police still recommend that children bring ID, if possible, as it can make the checks quicker and easier.
If you are a citizen of a Schengen country
You must bring either:
- a physical passport, or
- a physical national photo ID card
Other citizens
You must bring a valid physical passport, regardless of age. This also applies to children.
If you don’t bring a passport, you’ll be denied check-in.
Baggage and Dangerous Goods
If you’re travelling on foot, you must be able to carry your own luggage on board the ship. We therefore recommend that you don’t bring more luggage than you can manage yourself.
If you’re travelling by car, you’ll not have access to your vehicle during the crossing. Please remember to bring everything you need on board before leaving the car deck.
Electrical Appliances
You’re welcome to bring personal electrical appliances into your cabin, such as phones, tablets and hairdryers.
For safety reasons, it’s not permitted to bring larger electrical appliances on board, including:
- electric kettles
- hot plates
- kitchen appliances and similar items
These may pose a fire risk on board.
You may be asked to declare your luggage to us and/or the customs authorities.
Special Baggage, Dangerous Goods and Weapons
If you’re travelling with special baggage, we recommend that you contact customer service before departure to avoid issues at check-in.
Dangerous goods and weapons must be declared at the time of booking and no later than 24 hours before departure. Transport of dangerous goods and weapons is only permitted in vehicles.
You can find more information about the transport of dangerous goods and weapons in our travel conditions under section 12.
